M8S Pro L changing DPI and resolution
I don't really understand whats going on but these are my findings. Using apps like aida64 and DPI switcher here is what I noticed.
Resolution: 1920x1080
DPI: 320
Why that is weird is that I have my device set to output to my 4kTV at 4k@60fps via the display settings. And my TV info infor bar shows that its recieving a 4k@60hz signal. But apps like I have mentioned above and even the Youtube app seems to be saying something else. In youtube, when selecting 4k videos, the view port in the youtube stats is listed as 1920x1080*2. However, when changing the resolution in the dpi switcher app to 2560x1440/3840x2160, all the apps I mentioned above shows the display/viewport as 3840x2160.
Unfortunately there are a number of issues this all brings up too.
1. Messing with the DPI will make your recents menu (long press home) not appear anymore.
2. At the default rez of 1080p (thats what these apps are telling me I am outputting at even though my Tv sees 4k and I set 4k in settings), there is a range you can drop the DPI to before the recents stops working. Anything from 320 down to 290 is ok. Anything below 290 will give you the tablet UI in chrome but then you lose the recents menu.
3. One would think that you can just increase the rez but that has its own issues too. If you increase the rez within the app DPI switcher to 1440p, and leave the dpi at 320... you lose the recents menu again. You have to take it up to like 380 before it starts working but at this point your screen will look exactly as it was at 1080@320dpi.
4. If you set the rez to 2160p and don't raise the dpi again to match, you break the system UI. The wallpaper no longer fills the screen and you start to see UI glitches. And everything starts to stutter and slow down.
Edit: And just as I made a thread for this I sorted it out.
For whatever reason if DPI fell below that range I specified recents top working. So I installed a button mapper app and mapped set up the home button within the app to do what its already set to do by default. Now when messing with the DPI nothing happens to your recents menu.

somehow my lockscreen password got corrupted so i tried to do a factory reset and it is now stuck in infinite boot loop

Need help with soft-bricked X96
Hello folks,
Need help with my X96 2GB/16GB version. It's a S905x(p212) device with a Q5X v2.1 board. The Wi-fi chip version is RTL8189.
Here is what happened:
- Initially, it was running 6.0.1 stock which I upgraded to 7.1.2 using TX7 upgrade package( SD Card method - Erase bootloader option was selected) posted on another forum. The ROM upgrade was successful and I had a fully-functional ROM, in that even the IR remote’s power buttons were mapped correctly, so no mods were needed after flash.
- I flashed TWRP posted by @Ricky Divjakovski on xda-developers for S905x devices and later installed his Poison ROM. The Poison ROM couldn’t boot for me like others who reported this issue as well on Poison thread.
- I now went a bit adventurous and flashed MagicSee Iron 7.1.2 firmware(SD Card Method- Erase Bootloader selected). The upgrade went fine this time too, but the ROM had many hiccups and software would hang quite often. So, I decided to roll-back to TX7 firmware again.
- But my reset button stopped working. The ROM would still boot and I could load TWRP recovery too.
- I tried some other stuff to install stock recovery and install OTA packages. And now, it’s totally messed up. I have lost TWRP too.
Current status:
- No matter I do, I can’t get into recovery. It shows the boot logo and then moves to Magicsee logo animation, but get’s stuck there.
- I tried shorting some pins(not sure if they are the right pins), the device restarts but follows the same sequence as above(boot logo -> Magisee animation) but Amlogic USB burning tool never detects the device.
- I also, tried with the X96 stock firmware flashed on a SD Card, but still couldn’t get into recovery to trigger the update.
Any advice to recover my soft-brick will be a great help.

display clock
on my ebox t8 v s912 with 7.1.2, i installed custom rom but instead of showing the clock on front of box it show the word boot instead, i was told to take FD628_Demo from system/bin/ from original rom and replace existing one in custom rom, but...the original rom does not have that file fd628_demo in bin draw, but the custom rom has that file, som im wondering whats going on, is it in the kernel ? how do i get it to work, i tried t95z fd628 did not work either, if its in original rom...where is it, how do i proceed.

Mecool m8s pro l external subtitles support
Hi guys,
after an extended search I decided to buy the mecool m8s pro l (with voice control) android box, though there are couple of things I need to know. The main use of the android tv is for watching movies from apps like terrarium tv or morpheus. My concern is if this box supports external subtitles?

The BV5800 has lived up to its name by being fully waterproof(I have even been swimming in the sea while the phone was in my pocket)Not even a small amount of water has found its way in to the handset.
The phones speaker does sound like you have killed it once your out of the water but a wash out under the tap shake it and let it dry and all is good again (Panic over)

The BV5800 has played both beach buggy blitz and asphalt 8 with ease (A little slow on the loading time but other than that both worked fine)
The UI of the phone is the standard Android 8 with no crap installed, runs very well smooth and not too slow.

Looks and feel
The phone itself feels Awesome & looks top quality with its metal sides,rubberised plastic on the top and bottom.All the ports are sealed to stop the water getting in but are also easy to get at with just your fingers.On the edges of the phone you will find curved corners, as well as all the usual buttons and inputs..Comes pre installed with Android 8.1.It already has a screen protector fitted and there's another in the box so you even have a replacement,A good 18.9 HD+IPS screen of 5.5inc in size so its not too big in the hand or jeans pocket.

Blackview BV5800 waterproof test
The BV5800 has lived up to its name by being fully waterproof(I have even been swimming in the sea while the phone was in my pocket)Not even a small amount of water has found its way in to the handset.
The phones speaker does sound like you have killed it once your out of the water but a wash out under the tap shake it and let it dry and all is good again (Panic over)
Games and UI
The BV5800 has played both beach buggy blitz and asphalt 8 with ease (A little slow on the loading time but other than that both worked fine)
The UI of the phone is the standard Android 8 with no crap installed, runs very well smooth and not too slow.
