Trying to fix a friends box, power up and it goes to kodi mediacenter screen then just goes black, tried factory reset with toothpick andorid guy comes up saying erasing then goes back to kodi screen and black again, anyone have any ideas? help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

You never know with these chin. boxes, my last box was an "s802" according the box, website, reciept everyone except the chip, it admitted it was actually an 805.
So this be one SHOULD be an s802, it looks like one to me, but then I'm no soc expert, it's not like they actually say what chip it is. Anyone have any reason to think it's not an s802?

PiPo boots to black screen with white pointer

So I did a restore on my PiPo today as I was going to sell it. It booted to a 'boot off USB etc' screen but I pressed esc.

Now the PiPo boots only to a black screen with a white pointer which can be seen when moving the mouse.

Has anyone had this before? Fix?

PIPO X6s - public WiFi always on (even without OS-boot)

I recently bought a PIPO X6s, which unfortunately doesn't come with a manual. When plugged in (not even turned on), the PC always creates a public WiFi-Hotspot named "PIPO_AP", which i can't seem to configure anywhere. The WiFi-antenna also isn't detachable. Does anyone have the same/a similar device and can lead me into the right direction on how to configure/disable it?
PIPO-Support doesn't understand my issue...

New firmware for Tronsmart Vega s95, Version 20160309.
You can get the latest firmware via OTA update. We have pushed to telos, meta, pro users.
OTA update procedures:
1.) All Apps -> Update & Backup App -> Click ” Online Update”
Or Settings -> More Setting -> About Mediabox -> System Update
2.) Confirm to update and let the system to reboot and complete the update process
If your device hasn’t get notice, please be patience, our server will push that update soon.

Please make sure your device is our previous stock firmware, and does not have root,
Tronsmart s95 will not use OTA update and fail if you have root.
If you have root please use Amlogic Burning tool and flash manually to get the latest firmware.

Changelog:
1) Fix Random volume popup problem;
2) Fix “! “ in Wi-Fi icon;
3) Fix Apps being killed automatically when home button pressed

Ematic EGS-102 stuck on logo screen; computer doesn't see it when connected with USB

Hello,

Following some instructions to swap my internal sd with the external one (as the memory where the apps' data get downloaded to was only 500MBs), I believe I have typed something incorrectly inside the vold.fstab file, because after rebooting my tablet it's forever stuck on the logo screen. This is my first android tablet so please bear with me. The solution that comes to mind is to open the root files by some program on my PC and edit the vold.fstab file back (I even have a backed up version of it from a few weeks earlier), or even flash a new ROM. Now, the problem is, my computer cannot see my tablet when I connect it through USB. At all. Back before when the tablet was fine, I could use the usb to transfer files to and from my computer, but after I killed my tablet, my computer doesn't even make the sound which indicates that a USB device has been connected.


I have tried changing the USB cable and the port where I connect it to (never mind that the same cable and port work with other devices), to no avail. Having given up on the USB method working, I decided to follow some instructions on installing a custom ROM that has worked on EGS-004, and according to the one who posted that, would work on other variants such as EGS-102. Basically It was steps to installing the ROM from the external card through Recovery mode, which I followed thoroughly to no avail. The tablet still gets stuck on the "ematic" logo start screen.

Sadly all the other methods that would have a decent shot at working (Root explorer on PC, android recovery program, even some EGS-004 firmware method on ematic's website) requires USB. I'm out of solutions, and unless I can get the USB to work somehow, or find out why the ROM method didn't work, my tablet would officially be dead. I'm utterly miserable that such a stupid mistake on my part ruined my tablet, and I have no way of buying another (student income here). I would absolutely appreciate any help, and thanks in advance.

Oukitel K4000pro - a working class hero

First time I had this phone in my hands, I was impressed by the very solid design. Okay, thats why they called it an outdoor smartphone. The base is a strong metal frame with an extra thick gorilla glass. For those who need proof how good the design protect the phone from destruction, watch this video I found on youtube.

I would never recommend to use this phone as hammer , but as you can see some people believe it is a good idea to proof resistance against any violence. On the other hand the video was useful for me. After I watched it, I decided to pull down the glas protection plastic from the phone, because it takes brightness. After that the screen shows his real colors much better.

Power Phone
Of course it is not a gamer smartphone, because of the low frequency design of the MTK 6735p. This phone has another goal - power efficiency. It optimizes the battery life of the amazing 4600 Ah battery pack. For an average use you don’t need to charge it every day. I would assume 2-3 days without recharging it, would be enough. At least for the very tough users you will get for sure through the day.
The phone comes with a weight of 240g, because of the battery pack and the solid design, but it feels good to have a device with a good grip in your hand. Of course this a matter of taste and maybe small hands are better for a more filigree design than the Oukitel k400pro.

Screen and handling
The screen has a standard hd resolution with cripsy colours and a very responsive touch. It is only a quad core, but in fact I couldn’t notice that with all standard application for text, video and sound. The antutu test shows 24114 points, but the octacore phones I had in my hands before were not more responsive in the standard applications.
From the k4000 some noticed a weak GPS. Thats not the case for me with the K4000pro. Wlan is fast. The audio sound from the speakers is good and loud for an internal speaker, on the headphone of course I got a more balanced sound with enough bass for my AKG Studio headphones. For extra bass you need a helping headphone like my Sony V55.
BT works, only BT audio had some drop outs with my Phillips headphone. Maybe the headphone does not fit well with the K4000pro. Anyway Oukitel will update android and I will check this again and post the result here.
The front camera shows good results with the 8MP true resolution.

It is not a real outdoor handy, but for sure nearly solid as a rock when it goes down to the floor, but you better keep dirt and water away from this working class hero. I don’t think the K4000pro would like it.
Oukitel announced Android 6 for their K4000pro, marshmellow is announced for the k4000pro.
