using phone as remote on Alfawise H96 Pro+

I might be missing something simple, has anyone got their android phone to control an Alfawise H96 Pro+ (Gearbest with Wisdom firmware)?
I have a MXQ Pro+ (Amlogic S905) and was able to put the Smart iremote app, from the playstore, on my phone, turned on remote control in the box settings and it was detected and worked on the phone.
Not that simple in the H96 Pro+ I can't find the remote control setting to turn it on. Can someone confirm if the remote control setting is available in other firmware? TIA

Hi,
i have a MXQ Pro+ s905 coming in with 2GB/16GB + 1GbE. The seller listed Android 5.1 and it's way outdated version. Is there a hope to get newer Android version or a custom ROM running on this?
It looks like it has the old S905 and not S905x, but needs to be confirmed at arrival.

problem after OTA update mecool KI Pro jethernet changed mac address after reboot

Hello, i have this new box mecool KI pro, bought from geekbuying ,first setting the box was on last Saturday and it work very fine., it was rooted and installed on it firmware from 21 October so i made via root explorer complete copy for system folder.. but ... yesterday the Sunday i looked at update apk and it show me there update available from 31 October, and i gave it to update. if finished with out any distribution
and keep playing after it restart..time to time.. to watch TV.. at night i noticed my router start play crazy either my pc. i loged inside the the router and found the catastrophic so many mac address and open ip to it on the router.. so i noticed this KI after each time i reboot or start it it change the Ethernet mac address.

i cleaned my router and resetting it too... installed Terminal on the box and tried to write the mac via busybox. it write it successful as when i "ip link show eth0 " show me the correct one i wrote..
but when i reboot start again with funny mac address..

any one had glue or idea.. i did wrote to the seller e,mail but still no answer..

i would appreciated if some one have this problem before or way to stop it play crazy with eth0 mac

Chrome fix for Copy/Paste and Long Press options.

This error is not singular to Alfawise or a particular version of Android.

Current releases of Chrome V58 -- > V65 cannot screen drag or long-press for options.
I spent hours trying the different versions, O.S. variants, settings and Chrome://flags. Chrome home screen has these features, while, progressive web pages have options repressed.
Make sure auto-update is turned off in your Playstore account.

Get Chrome 57.0.2987.132 (choose the one that best suits your O.S.)

After much searching on Google and Chrome support forums... ( Expert - Community Specialist) have a canned reply of "clear cache/data or re-install Chrome"...with all the request over the past months, Google seems to have removed these features with purpose.
Maybe a future Chrome will work.

Six Intel Gemini Lake Processors Launched: Pentium Silver N5000 / J5005, and Celeron N4100, N4000, J4105 and J4005

Most of us have been expecting Intel Gemini Lake processors for a while, many of the features are already known, but there were some delays, and Intel has now only officially launched Intel Gemini Lake family with 6 processors.

The models include two Pentium Silver quad core processor with N5000 for mobile, J5005 for desktop, and four Celeron dual/quad core processors with N4000 & N4100 for mobile, and Celeron J4005 & J4105 for desktop.



All processors share the same 4MB cache which will help with performance improvement, and dual channel DDR4-2400, LPDDR4-2400 memory. Pentium processors come with Intel UHD Graphics 605 clocked up to 750/800 MHz, and Celeron processors are instead equipped with UHD Graphics 600 up to 650/750 MHz which the exactly frequency depending on model.



The company also introduced Intel Pentium Silver and Intel Pentium Gold brand levels with the former on Gemini Lake architecture, and the latter on the higher performance Kaby Lake architecture. Intel claims Pentium Silver N5005 will deliver 58 percent faster productivity performance compared with a similar 4-year-old PC based on Pentium N3540 (Bay Trail) based on data provided by SYSmark 2014 SE benchmark.

Gemini Lake processors will support Gigabit Wi-Fi capability using 2×2 802.11AC with 160MHz channels for theoretical data rates up to 1733 Mbps, and in reality around 1200 Mbps in ideal conditions provided the the router/client also supporting 160 MHz channels. The processor also include Local Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (LACE), a new technology that should help people watch videos outdoors clearly even in bright light.

The only consumer Gemini Lake platforms I know of right now are the upcoming Latte Panda Delta board powered by Intel Celeron N4100 processor, and Intel’s own GLK NUCs, but the company reports that we should “look for designs from major OEMs to launch in the first quarter of 2018”, so we should see many more Gemini Lake mini PCs, 2-in-1 laptops, etc… very soon.

VESA Announces the DisplayHDR v1.0 Specification

The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) today announced it has defined the display industry's first fully open standard specifying high dynamic range (HDR) quality, including luminance, color gamut, bit depth and rise time, through the release of a test specification. The new VESA High-Performance Monitor and Display Compliance Test Specification (DisplayHDR) initially addresses the needs of laptop displays and PC desktop monitors that use liquid crystal display (LCD) panels.

The first release of the specification, DisplayHDR version 1.0, establishes three distinct levels of HDR system performance to facilitate adoption of HDR throughout the PC market. HDR provides better contrast and color accuracy as well as more vibrant colors compared to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) displays, and is gaining interest for a wide range of applications, including movie viewing, gaming, and creation of photo and video content.

VESA developed the DisplayHDR specification with the input of more than two dozen active member companies. These members include major OEMs that make displays, graphic cards, CPUs, panels, display drivers and other components, as well as color calibration providers. A list of participating companies is available here.

DisplayHDR v1.0 focuses on LCDs, which represent more than 99 percent of displays in the PC market. VESA anticipates future releases to address organic light emitting diode (OLED) and other display technologies as they become more common, as well as the addition of higher levels of HDR performance. While development of DisplayHDR was driven by the needs of the PC market, it can serve to drive new levels of HDR performance in other markets as well.

Brand Confusion Necessitates Clearly Defined HDR Standard
HDR logos and brands abound, but until now, there has been no open standard with a fully transparent testing methodology. Since HDR performance details are typically not provided, consumers are unable to obtain meaningful performance information. With DisplayHDR, VESA aims to alleviate this problem by:
  • Creating a specification, initially for the PC industry, that will be shared publicly and transparently;
  • Developing an automated testing tool that end users can download to perform their own testing if desired; and
  • Delivering a robust set of test metrics for HDR that clearly articulate the performance level of the device being purchased.
What DisplayHDR Includes
The specification establishes three HDR performance levels for PC displays: baseline (DisplayHDR 400), mid-range (DisplayHDR 600) and high-end (DisplayHDR 1000). These levels are established and certified using eight specific parameter requirements and associated tests, which include:
  • Three peak luminance tests involving different scenarios - small spot/high luminance, brief period full-screen flash luminance, and optimized use in bright environments (e.g., outside daylight or bright office lighting);
  • Two contrast measurement tests - one for native panel contrast and one for local dimming;
  • Color testing of both the BT.709 and DCI-P3 color gamuts;
  • Bit-depth requirement tests - these stipulate a minimum bit depth and include a simple visual test for end users to confirm results;
  • HDR response performance test - sets performance criteria for backlight responsiveness ideal for gaming and rapid action in movies by analyzing the speed at which the backlight can respond to changes in luminance levels.
"We selected 400 nits as the DisplayHDR specification's entry point for three key reasons," said Roland Wooster, chairman of the VESA task group responsible for DisplayHDR, and the association's representative from Intel Corp. for HDR display technology. "First, 400 nits is 50 percent brighter than typical SDR laptop displays. Second, the bit depth requirement is true 8-bit, whereas the vast majority of SDR panels are only 6-bit with dithering to simulate 8-bit video. Finally, the DisplayHDR 400 spec requires HDR-10 support and global dimming at a minimum. With this tiered specification, ranging from baseline to high-end HDR performance levels, PC makers will finally have consistent, measurable HDR performance parameters. Also, when buying a new PC, consumers will be able to view an HDR rating number that is meaningful and will reflect actual performance."

"Developing this specification is a natural expansion of our range of video standards," said Bill Lempesis, VESA executive director. "Moreover, we are the first standards body to develop a publicly available test tool for HDR qualification, utilizing a methodology for the above-mentioned tests that end users can apply without having to invest in costly lab hardware. Most of the tests require only a colorimeter, which many users already own. Ease of testing was a must-have requirement in order to make DisplayHDR a truly viable, consumer-friendly spec."

New products complying with the DisplayHDR specification will be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 9-12, 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall, DisplayPort booth #21066.

if anyone is having problems with AUDIO RETURN CHANNEL (ARC) READ THIS

so ive been trying to figure this out for like 3 weeks...the ARC on my samsung tv wasn't working with my sony soundbar anymore
finally figured it out that it was the tv box (mecool PRO L with Magendanz firmware..tho im sure its not his fault )...unplugged the tv box..rebooted tv and soundbar...and boom the ARC started working again...so theres defiantly some bugs in the ARC on this box..and probably on other tv boxes as well
