Hi everyone!
I'm interested in Beelink S1, M1 or AP34. I searched many information about these models and I've got some questions. Maybe you can help me.
All models are powerfull but at the end I don't want to use Win10 but LibreELEC.
Do you have any experience using this software on these devices? There is a pissibility to install Linux on theses models? Somewhere I saw short info that there are some problems with install Linux, it's BIOS problem? Any news about that?
If you can, please advice me which model will be the best and why.
THX in advance.

Runs on Android 7.1.2

MX10 is at the moment one of the first TV Boxes which runs on Android 7.1.2 an update to Nougat that showcases more ways to express yourself, along with a handful of other sweet features and improvements to stability as well as performance.

Loaded with Rockchip RK3328

MX10 is one of the first models that comes equipped with Rockchip RK3328, the latest Rockchip SoC unveiled in the Janurary CES. With the latest RK3328 SoC loaded, MX10 will be able to play 4K videos with H.265, H.264 and VP9 codecs, other than that, it features HDR, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0 to say a few.

DDR4 4GB RAM, eMMC 32GB

It boasts DDR4 4GB RAM, and eMMC 32GB, advantageous in performance, security and reliability, ascribing to the eMMC memory, ultimately delivering a richer end-user experience.

HDMI 2.0 Connector

You can go directly to let your TV and MX10 TV Box are connected through an HDMI cable and set up your home cinema for the best 4K x 2K UHD multimedia experience.

True 4K Media Player

While your average media box might only accept 1080P video playback, this gadget plays just about any 4K sources you could throw at it. Furthermore, it moves out into reality the fantasy of VP9 hardware decoding alongside the H.265.

Fire OS 6 on the Amazon Fire TV 3 supports Picture-in-Picture, Video Time-Shifting, and Content Recording

The all-new Amazon Fire TV 3 will be the first device to run Fire OS 6 when it’s released next month. It’s probably safe to say that the updated OS will add some new features to the Fire TV that aren’t available today. Amazon says Fire OS 6 will be in parity with Android TV Nougat and specifically says it will support Picture in Picture, Video Time Shifting, and Content Recording.

Picture in Picture (PIP) is a feature that the Nexus Player received about a year ago and one that other Android TV devices received when/if they were updated to Android 7. It allows video apps, that take advantage of the feature, to continue playing video in a small window in the corner of the screen while browsing other areas of the app. A common use case for PIP is being able to continue watching a video while you browse for something else to watch.

Even though Amazon says Fire OS 6 on the Fire TV will support PIP, there’s no guarantee that it will be supported on the home screen like I’ve mocked up in the above image. It’s possible that Amazon will not update the Fire TV’s system apps to take advantage of the feature, and instead only provide support for it to 3rd-party apps that choose to implement it.

Apps that have a live stream option within them will be able to take advantage of a time-shifting API in Fire OS 6. This would enable apps to easily provide the option to pause and rewind live video feeds. With Fire OS 5, apps need to implement such a feature themselves from scratch. This is why most app’s with live streams don’t currently allow time-shifting the live content.

Amazon has already implemented time-shifting in Fire OS 5 on the Fire TV Edition television for its built-in OTA tuner, but it’s not available for 3rd-party apps to use. Fire OS 6 will allow any app to use a default time-shifting API, so more apps with live streams should begin adopting the ability.

The big disadvantage with time-shifting is that if you navigate away from the app or video feed that you are watching, you lose the stored video buffer and can no longer rewind the feed. The solution to this is for the OS to provide an easy way for apps to record video content locally so that it can be retrieved at any time. That is exactly what will be available to app developers in Fire OS 6.

Content recording expands on the time-shifting capabilities and allows users to record multiple sessions. It’s even possible for users to schedule recordings of live streams in advance, like a DVR.

All we know right now is that Fire OS 6 will include APIs that allow PIP, time-shifting, and content recording. The question remains whether or not Amazon themselves will use those APIs for new features and whether or not 3rd-party apps will use the features. Lets hope both.

NVIDIA Shield TV with Google Assistant and SmartThings Link

$
0
0
The NVIDIA Shield TV may be a few years old at this point, but it’s still one of the most powerful Android TV boxes on the market… and it keeps getting more versatile.

Today NVIDIA rolled out software version 6.0, which brings support for Google Assistant and the option to plug in a SmartThings Link dongle to turn the TV box into a home automation hub.

I got a chance to check out a Shield TV running the latest software, and while it was a bit too noisy to really test the Google Assistant feature, I got an overview of how it works.

The Shield currently comes in a few configurations: for $179 you can get a Shield TV with just a multimedia remote. Or for $199 you can get a model with both a multimedia remote and a game controller.

The remote has a microphone button that you can press to issue voice commands, and now that Assistant is baked-in, that means you can get news and weather updates, check sports scores, ask questions, and of course, control media playback.

“Play Game of Thrones” will play the HBO show. “Pause” will pause. And “turn off” will power down the system, among other things.

If you have the game controller, you also have the option of enabling always-listening support so that you don’t have to press a button. You can just say “OK Google” when you’re near the controller to issue commands just like you would with a phone or Google Home device.

NVIDIA says the gamepad gets up to 2 weeks of battery life in standby if always-listening is enabled, and up to a month if it’s not. Of course, if you actually play games you’ll probably need to charge it a bit more often than that.

As for the SmartThings USB dongle, it adds support for smart home products that use Z-Wave or Zigbee protocols, and all the hardware is in the USB stick itself, which means that you can add the functionality to a Shield TV for as little as $15 (that’s the pre-order price, but the full list price is $40).

Since the stick is kind of wide, it also comes with a short USB extension cord so that you can plug it into the Shield TV without blocking the device’s other ports.

Once connected, you can use the SmartThings Link to connect to devices including smart light bulbs, thermostats, and home security systems, receive alerts on your Shield TV, monitor everything using a SmartTHings app for iOS or Android, and use Google Assistant for voice commands.

You can also automate tasks such as turning on the lights or locking the doors at certain times, and you can set routines that let you do things like turn on the lights and start the coffee maker when you say “good morning.”

Hi guys
I am openning second thread as I cannot find solution to my case anywhere. here, XDA or 4PDA.
I have 4K 3GP DDR4 + 16 Flash with q9377. Androit 7.1.1

I want to flash new customROM but before that I would really like to make a full nandroid backup of current one. I know there are many stock online but had some problem in the past and just for sure I wand this which is on my device now and is working lets say fine.
So i tried SDCAD method with putting recovery.img on rood directori and start device with toothpick. so far nothing.
i tired around 15 different recoveri.img all over the net and nothing so far. All of them load H96 pro+ logo and that is it. I have LED in front to tell me whether device is working and during booting it lit a bit dimmer and in some recovery images after showing the logo start to shine a bit brighter. This is the only difference I have with all recoveries i tried. tried to remove all USB devices from the box, only HDMI and power cord connected - same thing. I am using 4GB microSD formatted as FAT32. tried to find how to check is my bootloader locked bu when I chose "reboot to bootloader" and device hanks on blank screen. nothing happens. so cannto be sure of that. device is rooted this is for certain.

So please help guys. Many thanks in advance!

p.s.
tried following images: 3.0.2.0, beelink 3.1.1.0, beeling GT1, q201-32, q201-64, q20x. and the list goes long.

A95X A1 on Android 6 only has one core enabled at 1ghz max

$

hi there!
used these forums to unbrick and sort out a lot of tv box issues but this time i had to sign up because i can't sort this one out or find a solution

i got a A95X A1 nexbox clone, i assume its a clone because the originals firmwares don't flash, or i haven't found the right one

it's got 1g/8g with a S905X and a c9081c wifi chip, samsung nand, boards inside reads; A95X_V1_0

there's only 1 firmware that would flash with usb burn
(https://mega.nz/#!hggFAAiK!c2zPN_U9z...ZnmxTtiXQAkJ0A)

all others i tried fail at 2%, which means its not compatible from what i read here

the rom is rooted and i installed cpu-z and no frills cpu to change the governors
cpu-z always shows 3 cores as stopped the one running usually being at 100%
it makes the box very hot, slow and annoying to use, tried changing governors, rebooting ,etc
nothing helps, only 1 core is enabled running at 1gh max instead of the supported 1.5gz
everything seems fine in armbian and libreelec, 4 cores being used all the time

how can i fix this android? or where can i find a compatible rom to flash with usb burner?

i also tried flashing some roms with sd card method, it shows its upgrading but after an hour it's still there
on other roms it reboots after a while to then be stuck as a red light
the only thing to recover it then is to use the one core android stock rom again

hope you can help me..
thanks!
