Bricked M8S s812

$

Hi,
I tried flash new Andr oid on mybox and I bricked him.
Now device is totally bricked , no recovery , no start form sdcard and my tv display "no signal".
I checked this forum and tried all solutions and still dosn't work.

That is almost typical brick with red light only but I can't flash even using USB_Burning_Tool as well even when I connected pins 29 and 30.
Progrss on USB_Burning_Tool stopped on 1% and that's all.

Any ideas please?

MX3 Plus rebooting shortly after boot, then fine.

My Tronsmart MX3 Plus with latest stock firmware started acting strange a week or two ago. It will startup fine, but as soon as I start using it, within 1-5minutes after startup, it will crash and reboot, usually a quick hot reboot.
Once it comes back up, it's fine indefinitely.

I have been using Syslog to take logs. Would someone be able to help me identify the cause if I provide the log files? If so, which logs in particular would be valuable?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Replacement/alternative power supply for S95 (Meta)

$

Hi,

I'm looking to get a replacement power supply for a S95 Meta, but not sure exactly what I need. I've tried with a USB 2A barrel cable that fits into a USB power adapter, and the blue light comes on, but nothing else - no picture. I realise it says 5V 3A on the back of the box, although cheaper boxes I've had work fine with 2A with the same power supply and a different barrel cable to fit that box.

I have two S95 Meta's, so it's not that the box is faulty, works fine with the one adapter I have left. I'm not sure if the barrel connector could be wrong, or if it really does need a 3A when other S905 boxes don't?

Many thanks

[ROM] MXQ Pro Nano and TVStock (Android TV) Nexus ROMs

In the spirit of the Pure Nexus Project, these custom ROMs prove that less can be more. The goal is to keep true to Google's vision and use the bare minimum of OEM or third-party apps or add-ons, which can be added à la carte by the user as needed. The Nano variant also serves as the foundation for the TVStock ROMs, which deliver the pure Android TV experience using the Open GApps TVStock Package.

TVStock variant includes:Nano Nexus variant includes:
  • Open GApps Nano Package
  • Google Now Launcher (replaces Lighthome Launcher)
  • Google Chrome Browser (replaces AOSP Browser)
  • Google Legacy Camera (replaces AOSP Camera)
  • Google Desk Clock (replaces AOSP Desk Clock)
  • Google WebView (replaces AOSP WebView)
  • File Manager v3.0.0 and Sound Recorder v6.0.1 from CyanogenMod/LineageOS
  • Terminal Emulator for Android v1.0.70 by Jack Palevich
  • TWRP Recovery 3.1.0-0 from TeamWin
Changelog (20170429):
  • Initial build made from latest MQXPro firmware (105L01) and Open GApps build (20170429).
Known Bugs:
  • Cast service can't get a Cast device cert through ClientAuthSigner except when casting from Chrome browser.
  • The DroidLogic system control that Amlogic put into their SDK doesn't allow substitution of the AOSP keyboard, which is a problem for the LeanbackIME.
  • To make Live Channels app visible in launcher, add a channel source like Haystack or Pluto TV.
Download:Notes:
  • The OTA update is signed, and so can be installed in the Update & Backup app, the stock recovery, or TWRP. It's intended for incremental updates, since user data is preserved. Bootloader, logo, boot partition and system partition are included, but not recovery.
  • Flash ROMs at your own risk and always remember to back up your data first. The burn package includes a factory reset

2017 or late 2016 S905x based box bricked after trying to flash? This might help you.

First, let me start by saying this is my first post and I'm only posting because I did not find this information ANYWHERE and I feel like it could help someone since this problem seems to be common on new revisions of Android-based TV Boxes.

So about a month ago, i bought a Nexbox A95X 1Gb ram/ 8Gb Storage. I liked it but it has some flaws, so I figured I'd just reflash it and get a new firmware that didn't have all the issues I was annoyed with. so I figured my methods are either Install TWRP, or just use a USB to USB cable and the Amlogic burn tool to flash the new firmware. I settled on the Latter, found a couple of Different roms on here that users said were compatible with my device and decided to give it a shot.

Here is a picture of the Back of my unit, there is a circle with R4 in it. if you have this on your box you might have this issue.
http://i.imgur.com/U8KpB7I.jpg

The first thing I got when flashing was that it would try and flash but fail at 2% then with the error message "[0x10105002]Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/USB Control" reboot the box out of USB mode.
so I did the stupid thing and deselected "Erase BootLoader" and with that done it did flash the new firmware on the device but then after it was bricked, there was no way to turn it on and it wouldn't get into USB mode so I couldn't reuse the flashing tool to redo a stock image.

now if you look at people who get into this bricked mode with this box or similar boxes have been able to fix it by bridging pins 7 & 8 on the flash chip to let you re-enable and get another flash to flash a good firmware. SEE here, (sorry It's a shitty video but it's all I could find) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eUJBYyH2RM

the problem is the newly manufactured boxes like mine that has a date code of early 2017 is that they did something to prevent custom firmware from being installed. plus they changed the flash chip to a surface mounted BGA package meaning that you cannot bridge pins 7 & 8 to get it to re-enable. most threads i looked at are full of people saying to return it to amazon and let them deal with it, or buy a Jtag cable and solder it up to the box to fix it.

Here is the link for how to short those pins in case yours DOES NOT have a samsung flash.
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/4147...es-tablet-v20/

now if you're with me this far it turns out that it is possible to re-enable it without a jtag cable.

If you look at this picture, i marked 2 sets of pins, on the underside of the board.
http://i.imgur.com/fTjFtyK.jpg (sorry but it won't let me embed them here since they're too high resolution)

there's the Red and Purple sets of pins, while the box is plugged into your machine via usb and the usb tool is running, start by trying to bridge the red set of pins, if nothing happens try then bridging the purple set, if all goes right you should hear windows sound off like a device was connected and from here you can click refresh on the tool and it should find it and at this point you will be ready to flash a new image.

For my box the A95X and the A95X Pro (that has Bluetooth) you can find the images here.to download.
http://www.tvboxnews.com/nexbox-a95x...ware-download/

if your board is different or this method does not work for you, you can try this one another user found.
http://i.imgur.com/Mzh1mmn.jpg

once you have the package in the firmware burning tool, you'll have to select the "aml_upgrade_package.img" (at least in my case there was also files other files in there that we're not necessary in this case)

now if all goes well the"burning" should finish successfully from here you can connect it back to your tv and remove the USB cable. it might take some time on first boot but it should take you back to the first time setup screen.

I don't know why exactly these new ones have issues but im tempted to bridge the solder on those pins to see if it will let the bootloader be re-written, but im not sure. if you know and can suggest a good firmware for me or point me in the right direction please leave a comment and let me know.

Replacement for my Minix X7

$

I've been using a Minix X7 for while, and it's 'okay'. I use it 95% for KODI and 5% for Youtube streaming. But now I'm looking for a replacement.

The biggest issues I had with the X7 were these:

- no h.265 playback
- kinda buggy software
- the USB 2.0 ports did not have enough power for my portable 4TB HD.

So basically I'm looking for an upgrade that would resolve the 3 issues I posted above. Anything around $200 (or less) would be fine.

All suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks.

X96 unbranded firmware with some fixes

$

0
After a lot of swearing, flashing, more swearing and flashing I finally managed to create a fully unbranded system that can be installed through TWRP.
If you still know how the original X96 looks with the original firmware you will be surprised

What has changed from the branded firmware:
Bootlogo original S905X.
Google bootanimation - that was the hardest part, allowing for a custom animation...
Media Box Launcher unbranded and with unbranded theme.
Unbranded Kodi completely removed so the rom will comply with all piracy laws and restrictions - more in the added apps section.
OTA updater removed.
All programs from the branded version removed, so no social media, Chrome, Netflix and so on.
Apart from the naked system with Google apps I included:
AdAway
ADW Launcher
XMBC Laucher for Kodi
File browser replaced by FX filemanager
Power Menu added - still requires to root the box! More under added apps.

Added apps and modifications:
Kodi was removed, but the install script for the addon packs is still valid.
The script no longer refers to the system folder but to /sdcard/apps
This means if you decide to install Kodi you can place the tar.gz archive for the addons in the apps folder of the internal SD.
Kodi itself is not included.
All fixes for the wireless keyboards fixed!
This means now the ENTER or OK key will do just that without any unwanted characters instead.
I also added the IR remotes Power function to the WiFi keyboard - press F12 and you can power down directly.
If you need this power feature included into other controllers instead of using the Power Menu app let me know.
The additional apps I thought to be of use will be in the apps folder of the internal SD.
In FX file explorer it is called "Main Storage".
Here you will find:
Chrome
Facebook
Netflix
Skype
SuperSU by Chainfire
Twitter
VLC for Android

How to install SuperSU:
All modifications to the boot image, scripts, libraries and so on are done and included.
This means the system is rooted except for the actual Superuser app.
Install from the apps folder and let the binary update, once done reboot and enjoy.

Installation of the ROM:
As before wipe all through TWRP then install the ZIP file from extracted RAR archive - so unpack the RAR first to your SD card.
Installation through TWRP does take a few minutes due to the hash verification.
Since all included apps are integrated into the system the first boot is a bit faster compared to the above ROM.
And the additional apps land on the internal SD for everyone to choose or delete if not wanted.
Please allow about 5 minutes after after the launcher selection appeared before you actually start using the apps - some things are still installing in the background!
Once you finnished the network and personal setup of accounts and such bott into TWRP and make a full backup in case you need it.
A factory reset will set you back to the point of the installation of the rom - so no SuperSU and the added apps folder might be gone too.

Known bugs:
Just noticed the WiFi is not available at first activation.
As the chipset is identified during activation you might have to select the network twice until you see WiFi available.
