Could someone who speaks Chinese possibly help. I need the latest firmware for the Mecool BB2 TV Box, as my box does not detect it from OTA update.
The firmware is: bb2-ota-20170218.094653.v0923.zip

A family member just bought a BB2 and it has this firmware installed. If I search, I find in on Baidu, but unfortunately cannot download as I do not understand Chinese.

LeelBox Q3 - not turning on anymore ?

Hi,
I have been searching and searching but cannot seem to find anyone with the same box, or even problem as I am facing.
I was going to upgrade the firmware for my leelbox q3, in order to update KODI to v17.
I found a firmware that I was going to use and copied it on a SD card. I followed the toothpick method, and as I put the power back on, the Leelbox screen came on for about 2 second, then went off, and the box turned off completely.
When I plug it in now, it won't even switch on. The optical output shows red, so the power is definitely on, but the blue light in front only flashes faintly, nothing else happened.

Any ideas ?

Strange issue with M8S+

I am having this strange issue with an M8S+ box. It's of a friend of mine and he gave it to me to have a look since it was stuck at the boot screen. I tried flashing ROMS via USB Burning Tool but flashing kept stopping at 2% .... then not even the blue light would come on.

So I tried flashing via toothpick method using the AMLogic Bootmaker. ROM flashed successfully, blue light on normally and everything working. However, when you remove the SD Card and reboot, the box will be completely dead again, no Blue light and no signal to TV. With SD Card and reset buton, box works again.

Any ideas as this has been driving me up the wall. Thanks!

If so, is it a basic modification to one of the XML files or is there more to it?

Arealer X9 doesn't boot, stucks in MBOX logo

Hello guys I bought Arealer X9 Android TV Box from Aliexpress.
At the beginning box booted but freezes after a few minutes. Play store stopped error messages appears a few time, Freezes when I try to add my google account while typing my email address.
I did factory reset with toothpick, after that show up "Installign apps please wait" but stuck at the middle of proccess. Power-off and on again now "MBOX makes your life colorful" text doesn't skip and box not booting up.

Any idea or updated firmware? or should I return ASAP?

box is working to apoint but the storage is full and i can download kodi but when i try to open and install the box tells me its memory is full . the same happens when i download an editor to try and delete apps i dont use to create more space .i thought if i was to update firmware it would maybe clear the unwanted memory and clear the space for kodi etc . kodi was installed so does work on the system .i am new to this and if my ideas are incorrect i would be gratefull if someone could point me in the right direction

Broadcom WiFi vulnerability allows remote code execution, affects almost all Android devices

We of a certain age remember the days before WiFi was widespread. It sucked. Now, there's a wireless network on every corner bringing you all the wonders (and horrors) of the internet. They can also bring you something else: hacks. A researcher from Google's Project Zero security team has revealed an exploit for Broadcom WiFi chips that can allow an attacker to execute code on your device. They just have to be on the same WiFi network as you.



Gal Beniamini from Project Zero developed a method of feeding a device WiFi frames with irregular values. This causes a stack overflow in the Broadcom firmware, and that provides an opening to run arbitrary code on the device. The proof of concept doesn't do anything major (and it requires the attacker to know a targeted device's MAC address), but Beniamini was able to write values to a specific memory address. That suggests a properly motivated individual or group could use this to hack a device.

According to the exhaustive Project Zero analysis (which you can read in full), Broadcom is missing some very basic security measures including stack cookies, safe unlinking, and access permission protection. Broadcom chipsets have a memory protection unit, but Beniamini found it ineffective at preventing the attack. Broadcom says its next generation of chips will have more advanced protections.

This doesn't only affect Android. Apple released a patch for this vulnerability in its most recent iOS update. On Android, it'll take a while to get devices updated. This vulnerability was fixed in the April security patch, so there are some Android devices protected. Not very many, though.
